What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from December 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well high-impact teaching, especially two-way feedback between teachers and students, leads to fair and strong outcomes, including for wellbeing.

ERO noted a place-based curriculum shaped by the school’s pepeha in the rohe of Ngāti Porou, and pointed to a schoolwide culture of ongoing improvement aimed at fair outcomes, an inclusive and culturally responsive environment, and strong systems for tracking and reporting students’ progress and achievement.

Next, the school plans to keep reviewing teaching so staff share an understanding of what quality practice looks like, strengthen assessment that feeds into day-to-day learning with a focus on feedback, and look at ways to measure students’ wellbeing and resilience.
