What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from October 2023. A profile report sets out what ERO and the school have agreed to evaluate together rather than judging results.
At Elgin the focus is how well teaching builds in te ao Māori to lift equity and excellence for all tamariki, with hoped-for gains in attendance, faster progress for tamariki who are behind, and more consistent use of assessment.
ERO named a collaborative staff committed to better outcomes and the school’s value of manaaki, which supports hauora and learning, as strengths to build on.
ERO’s next steps are professional learning so effective teaching and the use of assessment are consistent across the school, stronger relationships with whānau and the community, and continuing to put te reo and tikanga Māori at the centre of school culture, curriculum and practice.
