What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from March 2026. ERO found that the school has linked its local curriculum to the Aotearoa New Zealand histories curriculum, with place-based learning tied to Tinirototanga and to local iwi and hapū, and that marae links and whānau input into planning support strong community partnerships.

Teaching is of good quality, students are highly engaged and feel they belong, and a large majority meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in reading, writing and mathematics, although writing results are not yet equitable across groups of students.

ERO also found that less than half of students attend regularly, that attendance is not yet improving, and that the school is still developing an attendance plan. One area of non-compliance, a policy review, has since been addressed by the board.

ERO’s priorities are for the school to bring its planning and teaching into line with the national curriculum and assessment changes, make structured literacy and maths approaches consistent across the school, make better use of achievement data to guide teaching, strengthen its review and evaluation with a focus on fair outcomes for every student, and put an attendance plan in place to lift regular attendance.
