What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO judged the school to be working towards strong success for all learners and to be improving its teaching. A small majority of learners meet or exceed the expected level in pānui, tuhituhi and pāngarau, and results are not yet equitable across groups.

The school does well at engagement, wellbeing and inclusion, learners with complex needs are well supported, and weaving Te Papa Tipu o Horouta into the curriculum is growing tamariki knowledge of Ngāi Tāmanuhiri. A small majority attend regularly; attendance is improving and the school is approaching the government target.

ERO’s priorities are to lift results in reading, writing and maths, to use achievement data to speed up progress for those behind, to build kaiako capability to teach through te reo Māori, to plan with local kōhanga reo for Māori medium pathways, to strengthen leadership and governance through professional learning, and to put an attendance plan in place.

ERO also found that the board needed to make sure every teacher it appoints is registered; the board has since taken steps to address this.
