What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from September 2024. ERO found that most students make steady progress, with almost all at or above expected levels in reading and most in writing and maths, though the school is working to close a gap for Māori students, especially in writing.

Students are supported by an inclusive culture that increasingly reflects their languages and identities, leadership builds collaboration across the school and community, teaching responds well to learners in multi-level classes, and te ao Māori is being woven through the curriculum. Attendance is a concern: half of students attend regularly, below the Ministry of Education target.

The agreed next steps are to lift attendance and help the community understand why it matters, to review assessment so it gives reliable information about progress, to make sure the integrated curriculum covers all requirements for students in multi-level classes, and to build teachers’ te reo Māori and knowledge of tikanga, including a regular te reo Māori programme.
