What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO found the school had improved significantly since its previous review: a commissioner had been put in place to lead the changes needed, and the school has since returned to self-governance.

The areas ERO had asked the school to improve are now strengths, and ERO judged teaching to be of very high quality.

A large majority of learners meet or exceed the expected level in reading and writing, and a small majority in maths, with results equitable across groups. Learners with complex needs are well supported.

Attendance is a serious concern: less than half of learners attend regularly, the school is well behind the government target, and regular attendance is not yet improving, although chronic absence is falling and the school has a suitable plan.

ERO’s priorities are for leaders, teachers and whānau to improve regular attendance, for board members to begin stewardship training and strengthen their scrutiny of achievement information, and for the curriculum to keep being delivered through high quality teaching.

ERO also found the board had not always completed the required safety checks on children’s workers before they started; the board has since addressed this.
