What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Profile Report from August 2023, written under ERO’s Te Ara Huarau improvement approach. The evaluation looks at how giving mātauranga Māori equal standing is helping Māori students to succeed.
ERO noted an inclusive culture in which students take part in significant decisions, areas of the school with strong culturally responsive practice that others can learn from, and the capacity to use feedback and achievement information to judge the effect of changes.
The school’s priorities are to rework the curriculum in every learning area through a mātauranga Māori lens, keep growing teachers’ knowledge of te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori, and use student and whānau voice and achievement information to see what the changes mean for Māori learners.
